Launching Genie Health in South Africa

How Forge helped a global medtech brand land locally — with precision, personality, and a touch of Padel.

When a leading South African healthcare innovator brought global brand Genie Health to our doorstep, they weren’t just looking for a website — they needed a translation. Not of language, but of context.

Genie Health, an advanced orthopaedic care platform from the US, had the tech nailed down: secure tele-health, biometric motion capture, computer vision, workflow integrations, the works. But in South Africa, tech specs alone don’t win hearts (or practitioners). They needed a digital presence that would speak to local healthcare providers and patients alike — relevant, human, and unmistakably South African.

That’s where we came in.

The Challenge: Localise a Global Giant

Genie Health’s platform is powerful. It helps practitioners monitor and manage musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions using 2D and 3D motion capture, secure video consults, and AI-driven biomechanical analysis. It’s a game-changer for occupational health, sports medicine, and virtual rehab.

But technology without context is just code. Our task was to translate innovation into relevance — to build a digital experience that introduced Genie Health as a credible, approachable brand within South Africa’s healthcare ecosystem.

We needed to:

  • Launch Genie Health’s South African presence.
  • Localise global brand assets for a new audience.
  • Educate providers on how the platform works — and why it matters.
  • Create awareness and name recognition in a crowded healthtech space.

The Forge Approach: Build Local, Think Global

We started with the foundation: a fully localised website built on the Genie Health global identity system. Our strategy was simple — maintain the integrity of the global brand while weaving in local relevance, tone, and storytelling.

We reshaped the content to speak to South African healthcare providers, employers, and patients. The language was grounded, the imagery real, and the UX designed for clarity and trust. Every pixel had a job to do: educate, engage, and convert.

Then, we brought it to life through a campaign that connected technology to culture — via one of South Africa’s fastest-growing sports: Padel.

The Ad Campaign: Padel Meets Precision

We tapped into a cultural moment. Padel — the high-energy hybrid of tennis and squash — was exploding across South Africa, and with it, a new wave of orthopaedic injuries.

Our campaign drew the line between sport, injury, and recovery — showing how Genie Health’s platform could turn a sprain into science. Through visual storytelling, we illustrated how a patient could use Genie’s app to get real-time, virtual orthopaedic care from anywhere.

The work rolled out across digital, social, and targeted healthcare channels, hitting both practitioners and active consumers.

Result? Practitioners noticed. Patients remembered. Genie Health became a name in the local medical conversation — fast.

The Outcome: A Brand with Legs (and Joints)

The launch delivered where it counted:

  • Local awareness and recall in the South African healthcare sector.
  • Engagement from orthopedic and occupational health practitioners.
  • A digital presence that positioned Genie Health as both credible and cutting-edge.

In short: we helped a global medtech brand put down roots in a new market — and stand tall doing it.

The Insight

Localisation isn’t just swapping spelling or stock images. It’s cultural engineering. It’s about understanding how global innovation translates into local trust.

That’s what we do best at the Forge Advertising Agency. We take big ideas, break them down, and rebuild them for the markets that matter.

Because when you get the context right, everything else clicks into place. (and yes we know you know we know we shouldn’t start a sentence with “because”, but we’re rule-breakers. so we did.)
